Default v70 wheel upsizing

Hello all,
I am trying to buy 16" wheels to replace my 15s on originally. I found what I like on a 2010 v70xc. I spoke to a few service/parts depts. and only one told me that newer years xc models' hubs are larger than my v70's, meaning that those wheels won't fit on my car. I'm ok with using 7x16 wheels to replace my 6.5x15's they say, and i will reduce the profile of the tires to keep diameter close to original, so there is only that one catch. Anyone know if this dilema is true?
Thanks in advance to all Volvo enthusiasts!

Read the sticker on the door about tire sizes. If your car can handle 16" 's, the recommended size will be on that label/sticker. That's the case with my '06. You'll probably get a rub at full lock, btw.

Are 2010 wheels mounted on a larger hub? I don't know, but I do know how to use a measuring tape and where my local Volvo dealer is. A metric tape will help, you know.

If the hub is bigger, you'll need a different wheel or else you'll be riding on the bolts that hold the wheel to the hub, a task they're not designed to do.
