hey im trying to fix my friends car, he has a 2000 V70R and wat happend he got hit and after the accidednt about half a month later his tranny blew do the fact im guessing that the drive shaft seal probably blew becuase when i checked the oil it was empty i added more tranny oil the car slips thru gears it would randomly shift into any gear, i think the tranny shot my question is i could get a regular v70 tranny would that work on a v70R or is there any other trannys that i can swap into the v70r other then a v70r tranny cuz they are just to expensive

 

You could install a V70 XC Awd tranny. Unless he doesn't want the AWD anymore.
Then you should be able to install a FWD one.

 

would a tranny work from a 2001 v70 xc ? cuz the 2001 has a different body style then the 2000 v70r that my friend has or is the tranny still swapable?

 

As long as they were the same transmission type. Look on the plate of both and compare.
Worse case you would have to swap the transmission harness. The real early 2001 used the same transmission harness. But the later ones used a totally different harness.

 

You MUST use a 2000 R tranny
