Default Volvo Quality?

Hey, I've been looking for a volvo, and I've been seeing some late 90s v70 wagons for killer prices. My question is, are these vehicles the same bulletproof, home repairable vehicles as the earlier volvos? I have been looking at higher mileage, clean wagons, and do all my repairs at hone. I'm just wondering if one of these would be a great low maintenance ride, or if I should find a 240. Thanks!

low maintenance volvo wagon = 240 740 940 wagon.

'97 and '98 850/V70 wagons = very reliable, more power, better looking, cheap parts, newer technology, requires a little more maintenance than 240 though

Are they 300k mile cars like the 240s? Are parts really high on the older cars? I'm not afraid to work on the cars, I just don't want something that falls apart, I've done my time with Chryslers!

Yes, BUT if they were maintained regularly by the previous owner.

The newer volvos with the white 5 cyl engine, can have problems with sludge, if oil changes were not done regularly every 4-5K miles.

Look for one with a good maintenance history and you'll be good.
