Exclamation Volvo questions!

Hi!
I bought a 00 Volvo v70! And honestly I haven't had a chance to enjoy the car yet! It seems to give me one problem after the other!
Tonight I drove home and as soon as I got to my drive way it wouldn't go forward (drive)! It would reverse fine but refused to go forward! Then I made the mistake of turning it off, and now it won't start! It makes like a continues ticking sound, but nothing happens! Just before this happened a warning light came on saying something about abs & the battery!
This is just a list of bad luck with this car.
Anyone that can maybe give me an idea of what went wrong?
Thank you!

Welcome to the Board.

I would check the alternator and battery as the first step. Chances are the alternator is bad. Make sure that the belt is OK but you didn't mention anything about the power steering not working so the belt is likely good.

Thank you for the quick replies!
I'll definitely look into these options! Could it be a flat/faulty battery?

Talking Thanx for the replies sofar!

My husband thinks it's the battery! He started her this morning and she drove up & down the driveway! Then he switched her off and nope she just wouldn't start again! He is currently charging it to see if the battery is keeping the charge or faulty!
Does anyone know what the warning EL. Service required?
Also my car has sufficient oil in, but a warning comes on saying turn off this vehicle ASAP, oil pressure low! Why does this happen?

Thanx again for all the help!

You're gonna need an alternator too.
