volvo v70 clicking sound
My 1998 v70 has developed a metallic clicking sound. It kind of sounds like it might be in the exhaust system/catalytic converter(coming from underneath), but i don't really know. I don't know what a bad catalytic converter sounds like. It isn't very loud from the inside but when the windows are down it kind of is. The check engine light is now on as well. I thought maybe a bad O2 sensor may have damaged the converter, but i'm not sure i just want to start ordering parts. Any ideas?
Well for the original poster, why not get the check engine light read so you know what it's telling you instead of just saying it's on and guessing at a problem ??
Was the noise proportional with speed of the engine or car ??
OP again, what did you end up finding on it ??
I always appreciate when people at least finish the question they asked with the answer they found. Otherwise it doesn't really help anyone.
Jcadlolo, when people say "clicking" I always think CV joint. Is the noise different at different speeds ? When you turn does the noise change ? Have you looked under the car to inspect the rubber boots at both ends of the axles to see if they are ripped and or slinging any grease ??
