I have a manual 5 speed box done 53000 miles and have just run out of warranty, I took it to a Volvo dealer for an annual service and asked them to check a grinding noise, they said it needed a new clutch £700.00 including service. When i picked the car up the noise was still there and the driving was no different, asked for my old clutch back which I had checked - nothing wrong with it so I made the now very unfriendly, unhelpful, rude, and agressive dealer put it back and I asked for a refund - this they did - with a little help from Volvo uk - who also were not very helpful as all uk dealers a franchise so Volvo uk can only ask them to help. I took the car to another UK volvo dealer who said the noise was the brakes - needed new brakes & discs and charged me £50.00 for looking - I still have the crunching grinding noise from my gearbox - will let you Know what it is when I can find someone who will tell me! be aware, this is probably going to rob me blind - and yet the car has always been serviced by Volvo as detailed - so who is to blame?
