Default Whats wrong with my XC

My beloved XC.....it's a 2000 suddenly has various issues. It's going "in" tomorrow, as I am due for inspection, and they are going to diag, but I like to saound like I know my car. Here's what up, if anyone wants to speculate/advise:

Last week my engine light flashed on and off, didn't stay on, and all my ABS lights came on ( the ABS light and the slippery light), and every time I applied my breaks the ABS was trying to engage. I had my hubby pull the ABS fuse, and it was fine ( although my ABS was disengaged, but no biggy, I don't like ABS taking over anyways). Then, the very next day my hubby jumped a curve and scraped the passenger side underside of the car accross the paver. Horrible scraping noise, but we couldn't see any damage, car was fine. The next AM, I hop in car, warm it up, and take off. Speedometer seems to have major issues, jumping up and down and all over the place. Car seems sluggish, not wanting to kick into full speed. When the car has been driven about 20 min, it goes back to acting fine. Speedometer is fine, car is full power. This issue happens every day until the car is about 20 min into running.

Any ideas? Seperate issues? All related? Did dear old hubby damage something on the underside, or is this just coincidential?

The light flashing means it was misfiring.
For the ABS I will bet the module is bad.

Thumbs up

Thank you, that's good to know. I was hoping it wasn't 2 seperate systems that had issues, that is never good......

I dropped my car off last night near closing time and was able to talk to the mechanics who were closing up. I appreciate the chatter about timing belts because this Volvo was new to me at 100K, and likely never had it changed out, they are going to inspect this as I have it in the shop and let me know how it looks.

This site is great for non-car heads like me! Love the car, but know nothing about cars.
