Default Wrong part?

Well....this timing belt project isn't going so well....seems I'm running into small little problems....here is my latest. I took the S-belt tensioner off, but when I compare it to the new one it looks totally different. Everything about is is more 'beefier'..weight is more, diameter of cylinder holding the spring etc..the bolt holes line up right and the pulley ends up in the right spot....the pulley diameters are the same, but the new one is slightly wider...

The part number and the invoice match....I bought everything from FCP

Should I install the new one or put the old one back on? The old one seems fine...spins freely w/o any noise.

That might be an updated one.
Just make sure in the end that the pulleys stick out the same in the end.

m ... what car do you have? I recently changed my tb, wp, idler and tensioner and the new one does not look like what you have. Instead of the "nut" on the pulley, the new on has a torx fitting on the body of the tensioner (as apposed to on the pulley).

I misread the original question so my previous comment was completely wrong.

hehe ... took me a minute or two to realize this

This is the tb tensioner ... http://www.europartsdirect.com/item-...8627484KIT.jpg

I can't find a pic of the new one I put in but it does look different. Ask hummerguy if he took some pics, he also did his recently.

NM ... found it ... no I don't have anything better to do

ok....it looks exactly like the one on the FCP site (where I got the part), I'm just surprised at the differences.....the original looks beefier and make the new one look....well cheap.
