XC vs. AWD parts swapping
Let me say first that I have no experience with anything newer than my '94 855t, so forgive me if these are pretty basic questions.
I have a friend who offered me a '98 V70XC. It needs an alternator, and a couple motor mounts, and he's selling it cheap. I have also found a guy selling another '98 V70XC that broke a timing belt.
As fate would have it, my local wrecking yard is about to have a '98 V70 AWD in their yard. So, my questions....
Are the engines the same? I want to pull the head off the AWD for the XC rather than spend rediculous money on new valves and machine work.
Is there a difference in the 4wd system, or is it just ground clearance differences? I've read about viscous couplers, and angle gears, and driveshafts that all go bad, so what should I pull off the AWD that I might want to have laying around for spares on the XC?
And by the way, just how exactly does fluid in a sealed box (viscous coupler) go bad?
Thanks
