Default Xc40 12 volt battery charge fault

I have a 2020 xc40 . About 2 months ago the fault message 12 volt battery charge fault came up. I tested the output of alternator and it was low at between 11.2 -11.8 when running . I booked it in with dealer and because there was a 2 week delay it cleared up before it went in . I explained what had happened and the dealer put it on computer and couldn’t find a problem . I had a volt checker that you can plug into 12 v charging point so the output can be monitored while driving and the voltage does bounce around a bit between 11-13.8 volts which I don’t think is right . The dealer told me this wasn’t accurate which I do t agree with so I left with a car that wasn’t fixed and today the message had come up again and the volt checker was reading as low as 10.4 . I know this car is gonna break down as some point this will be the only way the useless mechanics at Volvo will be able to fix it as they can only fix what the computer tells them . Has anyone else had this problem.

Wondering if this defect returned and if so was it repaired properly?

Yes, I have had the same issue! My start/stop function has also not worked since the 2nd week after buying the car. I have a 2019 model and over the years I've gotten battery related errors several times. I've had both main and auxiliary batteries replaced, and the alternator swapped as well, but it continues to have electrical faults. It seems like the car excessively drains its battery when not driven for any amount of time, and that it does not charge up the battery sufficiently when it is. It used to be that every year or so it would throw a "Charging fault, service urgent. Drive to workshop" or a "12V system service required" error, but now that the warranty has run out, it has begun draining its battery within days. I charged it to 100% with a Schumacher battery maintainer (using the AGM setting) but within 2 days, the battery was sitting at 30% charge (about 11.3V). I just replaced the main battery myself using instructional videos I found on YouTube, but honestly this is ridiculous. The Volvo manual calls for only 15mins of driving per week to preserve the battery and I drive 30mins PER DAY! There is no reason the battery should die this frequently. If anybody else out there is having the same problems, please consider joining this class action lawsuit investigation: https://chimicles.com/volvo-dead-bat...investigation/
