XC40 TCM and VCM
You will definitely not be able to just swap them out. I don't know if XeMoDeX does cloning with those units and that year or not. If they don't and you need a new one, it would require buying a new one and the dealer will program it with your car.
Question: If you car is a 2021, it should still be under warranty (4 years/ 50k miles), is this not covered by that?

Hi, I'm curious, how did you rectify your VCM issue? I also have a bad VCM from flood damage. The dealer is quoting me $1,622 to replace it with a new unit and reprogram.
I do have car insurance but I purchased the car knowing it had some past water intrusion. I did not know the VCM was faulty until now. I have since found out that the previous owner replaced the VCM from a wrecked 2021 XC40. Apparently, you can't exchange the VCM's from a different XC40 as they are locked/married to that original vehicle. Thanks!
That is true of many Volvo modules. A company such as xemodex might be able to fix or program your used unit to your car. You will have to ship your module to them - but give them a call.
