Where is the part number for the alternator? I would like to like to have the alternator in hand before I take the old one out. Can I install a 180amp for a 150amp as an upgrade to the original if I dont see the number?

I like to use dealer web stores to find the part numbers - I suppose you can find the build plate on the alternator but it may not be readily visible. Try tascaparts.com (they are over in Cranston, RI so it doesn't cost a lot to ship to CT) - they have the best prices on genuine Volvo parts that I've seen. You can also call with your VIN to confirm. Keep in mind on your model you can replace just the voltage regulator and not the whole unit depending on your issue.
