2012 XC60 D5: Engine system service required
My car (D5244T15xxxxxx) has started presenting this message on the dash, accompanied by immediate huge reduction in performance. A restart restores normal performance but normal performance has also returned after a while without restart.
I have pulled DTCs from the car using an Android app and I see EGR and CAT messages there amongst others. My first thought is to have the EGR and CAT removed both physically and from the ECU. Here in South Africa it won't cause legal issues.
Your thoughts please?

more likely its the PCV oil separator that is allowing oil rich blow by gasses from the crankcase to get into the intake . The EGR sends exhaust HCs which won't do much more than add a little carbon. Leave the EGR alone and service the PCV system. At this point you may need to do the full deal on the PCV including hoses and the oil separator.
