2022 Google system: GPS not working, any suggestions?
Anyone else have this issue? Three different trips, no GPS says it can't acquire a signal.
I *hate* google and would never have bought the car if the dealer hadn't told me it had CarPlay.
Any suggestions to fix the GPS before it has to go back service? Reset something?

Mine is a 2021 so my system doesn't have the issues many of the 2022's have but, there have been several posts that doing a complete 'reset' corrected quite a few of the issues. Upside is more works, downside is you have to spend a few minutes re-entering your info into the system. As far as the phone app, there is a new one but when downloading it, make sure you check that you're getting the one for the U S.
If 'reset' works, you should come back on here and tell others what started working correctly.
Note: if you upgrade your phone app, delete the old one 1st and you'll need the 'CODE' they give you when you got the car to pair it up again.
Thanks for the reply. A full reset didn't work (but obviously did have to wipe all my info). Volvo dealer service department said I was the 4th call yesterday morning for the same "Searching for GPS" problem and said an over-the-air update seemed to be to blame. So have to take it in Monday morning.
He also confirmed there is no Apple CarPlay for this model yet.
The phone app available via the google interface does work, so I don't need to download anything new there. I just don't like it. I'm not a fan of google and like so many others have said on these forums - the 2022 google interface is not ready for primetime. I thought the vehicle had CarPlay ~ was told by the dealer I got it from (never returning there again) that it did.
Update: Car fixed itself ~ somewhere between Sunday night and Monday morning GPS magically started working again so I didn't need to go to the closest to me dealer. However, app stopped working so downloaded new version. Dealer I bought it from (who I will never go near again due to lies in sales) did not give me a code when I bought the car so I have to call on-call.

I was experiencing this “searching for GPS” problem yesterday. Haven’t been in the car since so maybe a long period without driving will reset the problem.
On another forum, a Volvo associated developer suggested that I needed to reboot the modem. To do that requires restarting the whole infotainment system first by holding down the Home button for around 20 seconds. Then, immediately after it comes back online, press and hold the defroster button until you see the network icons on the top of the screen change. Haven’t had a chance to try it myself.
This afternoon my GPS started to work again!!
When I got back to my garage - wifi also connected!!
The gremlins decided to leave me alone for a while.
PS never did the hard reset, but did reset wifi and bluetooth a few days ago with no benefit
I have this issue as well. It was fixed automatically next morning first time few days ago. This is second time today I got searching GPS all the way home from office-around 1hour driving time. It seems a bug there..try to reboot or restart Google system as you guys suggest tomorrow if it is not fixed by itself.

update : It fixed itself again in the next day morning. I guess GPS somwhow not work properly or can't connected in the begining - in the basement or raining day...then It can't recoonect it again until "a while" the system restarting... I will try reboot or restart Google system once it happens again ..update later.
reboot: press and hold the home button till you can see "Volvo" popup in your screen
reboot network: press and hold defrost button..you can see your LTE icon is in the screen left up corner recoonecting..

GPS Issue update:
GPS issue happens again ... I reboot google system..it doesn't work (reboot 3 times). I went to my dealer and engineer reboot google again... still doesn't work... then enignner reboot network LTE ( hold the defrost button few secind) and reboot google system after reboot network...GPS come back again... I am not sure if that is right sequence... but at least I can see GPS back and google map work properly..I might say it could be a work around when issue happen...however; engineer can't give me a root cause and fix it..fyi~
I own a V90 recharge 2022 since last February.
I experience “searching GPS” for hours without connection success. Then, as soon as I park my car open air for one hour or more, it goes back to normal. No home button or defrost reset has given any results on the fly. Dealer reinstalled the whole software, it worked for few days and now I’m back with the same problem.
It happens sometimes but not always after one night parked in my basement where there is no GPS or 3G signal.
Anybody who has achieved to fix the problem out there?
Until yesterday, I too endured my Google Maps being offline for over a week! Consulted several Volvo product specialists, all to no avail.
Finally, recognizing that only my Google Maps were offline (i.e., everything else worked perfectly... phone, SiriusXM music... even "Hey Google!" consistently responded), I figured that I DID NOT need to do a hard reset... perhaps just a reset of the infotainment screen to bring Maps back online. I first tried the reset while the car was sitting in my garage with only the ignition on. Didn't work.
Afterwards, I tried resetting the screen while outside with the engine running, and it worked!
Here's what I did.
With the engine running, and the car in Park, I pressed the physical Home Button under the infotainment screen. I held the Button for longer than the 2 seconds (required to darken the screen for cleaning) until the Volvo insignia actually lit up, only then releasing the Button. Voila! Google Maps began working properly!
I have a month-old 2022 XC60 Momentum B5 AWD. I'll update on next steps if/whenever another issue arises with Google Maps.

Got a 2022 XC60 B5 collected 2 weeks ago.
This morning I left home and the GPS did not catch any signal. Roughly 45 min trip, still no signal.
I tried a hard reboot (long press of the “home” button for over 20 seconds) but nothing.
However when I retried the reset and pressed the defrost (rear window - see attachment) button it worked.
So the procedure is:
screen on
Keep pressing home button
first the screen cleaning message will come (continue pressing)
then the screen goes completely dark
release home button
Screen shows VOLVO
at that moment start pressing the defrost button.
I kept it pressed until the whole system was restarted and I could see the map … which was finally showing the right location.
Having the same issue since today. Tried screen and modem reset as mentioned here and it didn’t help. Google maps shows my location somewhere else that I was 1 hour ago! I would say influence of Chinese management. Very disappointing.

I tried the modem reset too, several times - didn't work; booked an appt with Dealer - earliest was a couple of weeks out. The day before the appointment - it fixed itself!!!
I was offline for about 4-5 weeks. The Dealer was no help - didn't know why it happened and only knew of the reset instructions that were noted here. Sorry I can't be more help. Volvo really dropped the ball on this one as it seems to be happening more then they're willing to admit and deal with.

Edit: I have tried pressings home button and FRONT defrost button simultaneously for more than 30 sec and it worked, at least temporarily!
However, I am yet extremely disappointed with Volvo.
i paid equal of 80K USD to a brand new car, it shouldn’t have these kind of problems that based on what we see here is more than a common issue!
I was deciding between Volvo and Mercedes GLC, and I regret truly my decision.
so again, for me press and hold home button and front defrost button fir as long as you see system reboots and your connection goes from online to disconnect and then to connected again.
Fingers crossed it will stay like this…
