I stopped by my Volvo dealer's newly opened location today just to check it out and to be sure I know how to get there. Some of the people I know from the dealer's original (and still operational) location are now at the new location.

They told me there was a new software update available but it would not be installed OTA. I need to bring the car in to the dealer to get the update. I made an appointment to do so.

Does anyone know anything about this update? What's it got? Why are some updates dealer only?

 

I went to my dealer today and was told that my car was already at 2.13.3 despite the car itself reporting 2.13.1.

Dealer says the difference hss something to do with non-infotainment updates that the infotainment center will not be aware of. Does this sound reasonable to everyone?

Software updates | Volvo Support MT (volvocars.com) discussion says:

• Steering wheel heating is now activated automatically during preconditioning in MY24 cars equipped with steering wheel heating.
• Bug fixes for MY24 cars.

My car is 2023 so perhaps this update does not even apply to my car. I note my 2023 does have a heated steering wheel. (Nice!) My car was a late 2023 build so might it have some 2024 features?

Googling 2.13.3 says it will be available OTA shortly. This doesn't seem to jive with things I have heard previously. It was just last week that the dealer told me I needed to schedule a visit to get the dealer-only update. That's why I was at the dealer today in the first place!
