Default Hard shift from P to D xc60 d5 2011

Hi there new to site and looking for some advice. I am experiencing a hard shift from P to D. I have had a new valve body fitted software updates and adaptions. It only happens once the car has been driven , when I start it in the morning it’s fine. It there a fix for this ?

did you check the condition and level of the transmission fluid? If you've already had a new valve body installed, it seems possible the tech didn't fill to the proper level or you have other more serious internal issues.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Car is in garage today and have just received a call from them to say they have tested the battery and they think that this may be the cause.
Having had a quick search online there could be something in it as a low battery can play havoc with the auto transmission.
Fingers crossed with a new battery and the adaptions relearned it will be sorted.

I have a 2016 XC60 D5 AWD and I had exactly the same issue when shifting between D and R once the vehicle had warmed up. Volvo simply did a transmission software download and the problem disappeared. I had just had the Polstar upgrade done a few week before and at the time, Volvo forgot to remap the transmission as well.

Hi there

Thanks for the reply. Since the battery change the problem , fingers crossed , looks to be under control. How are you finding the remap ? Worth the money ? Noticeable gains?
I am thinking about having one done.

Hi
While it is expensive, I can highly recommend it. The effect is a much more responsive drive with a very long torque band. It is really appreciated when trying to pass traffic on an incline....there just doesn't seem to be an end to the acceleration...
