Low beam failed so I ordered H11 compatible U11 base LED lamps to replace both sides . Happy to see that Volvo had improved/simplified the r & de compared to my S60 2007. Happiness stopped there. When I opened up the headlight enclosure I found this; not H11. See pics.
So , my questions:
Was this ever factory standard?
Anybody know what it takes to make it/returning to H11?
I have already purchased H11 compatible LED so would prefer to go that way. Good price and longevity.
The failed bulb costs $60.00/ea. plus taxes and ship., more than than I wish to pay.
Also, should I be expecting error messages when LED bulbs are installed and working? This was an issue on my 2007 S60.

Yes HID self leveling bulbs were an option, and are brighter than H11's. . And yes if you use any different kind of bulb you will continue to have a bulb out message. And yes they can be expensive.
Simplest solution - just put a new HID bulb in! (I wouldn't trust the cheapest ones)
