Bought my 2011 XC60 in late 2014 with 73k miles. Loved it, but soon the dreaded gear hunting and rough gear shifting at near stops started. Add to that, the engine wasn't smooth as I expect from a car like the XC60. So, I began seriously considering getting rid of the car.


Doing research, other owners recommended high octane gas and software updating. Gear hunting and hard shifting improved greatly within two tanks of switching to high octane - I was using regular. Still smooth engine performance and response wasn't there. Went to dealership for oil change and asked about software update. Service manager suggested an early 82k service maintenance (I had 78k) since it included software update.


Left the dealership very happy. Not only the gear hunting stopped, but the engine responsive and performance is the way it should have been.


Finally, I love driving my XC60 and no longer think about selling it.

 

I have a 2013 R-design. I have also noticed a similar issue. I am getting the brakes checked and Koni FSD shocks and struts done this Monday. I mentioned it to them. I hope to get the software upgrde as well!
