Key FOB battery dies quickly
[QUOTE=ES6T;504458]There was a batch of bad remotes. Remove the battery and check the 4 digit code printed on the board. If it's 0142 it will be replaced under warranty if your car is still under warranty.[/QUOTE

could you please tell me what a “TJ” is? Is there a recall or something Volvo officially identifies the FOB as defective? I don’t have anything official to support my claim. Thanks.
yes, the code on the fob is 0142
Yes, my 2019 XC90 key fob has the same issues. I even bought the replacement batteries from the Volvo dealer, and still only last a couple months.
Solution!!! Finally a Volvo parts guy taught me what I was doing wrong! It’s operator error. In my defense, 3 of the previous dealerships I went to messed it up also. Both of my key fobs kept dying within a month. I was shorting out the battery. Here’s solution!! The two metal prongs on the side have to rest on the side of the battery. Do not push them underneath the battery. There are already two prongs that touch the bottom. If they end up underneath then it shorts out the battery. Also, if you’ve broken off the plastic pieces that hold the battery down, you have to hold the cap in place as you lock the cap back on. Hope that makes sense.
