Default Media and Navigation system

The maps in my 2013 XC60 were useless since the area where I live has many new roads. So I downloaded the update file from the Volvo website and installed using USB, according to the instructions they provide. Something corrupted the computer and I lost all the navigation, I also lost handsfree calling. The media, otherwise still works.
the car went into Volvo in Vancouver, BC twice, but in the end they told me I have to buy a complete new system for almost $3000 CA. They told me they phoned Volvo Canada and there is no other solution.
Hard to believe there is no way to reinstall the software.
So now we make do with a Garmin suction-cupped to the window. I’m not about to pay so much and still have that tiny navigation screen.
A company named Seicane claims to provide a replacement that is a touchscreen. But I haven’t investigated it.
Any suggestions?
Thx 😊
