I was just wondering what type of indicator I should expect if too much oil is added. I have a 2015 XC60. Of course no dip stick. The digital oil gauge has 4 segments between two orange/red markers, one segment to the left of these 4 and also one to the right. After an oil change usually the 4 segments are all filled in and the one to the left is also filled in. I was wondering if the one to the right fills in if too much oil is added. I periodically need to top off the oil, and want to make sure I don't add too much.

 

It's only available when the engine is certain temp car isn't on a slope etc. Check about 20 mins after stopping and it'll work. In the manual there is a list of things car checks for.
