One evening, when it was pouring down rain, I ran over a curb with the passenger's side of my 2012 Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design. When I briefly got out to check the damage, only noting minor damage. Due to the weather, I got back into the car and returned home. The following day, I again noted only minor damages.
Since that time, I have noticed that the damaged piece has been gradually pulling away from my car. Someone I ran into who works on vehicles informed me this is a relatively "easy" fix, even stating I could perform it, but the issue is that I cannot find the name of the part that is out of place; therefore, I am unable to locate any videos online to guide me through the repair process. Furthermore, I am unable to identify the required white rectangle pieces that I have identified in the uploaded photos, as I understand that they will need to be removed (i.e., broken into pieces) and replaced with new ones.
In short, my questions are:
(1) Has anyone dealt with this issue previously?
(2) Has anyone ever fixed this issue on their own?
(3) Can anyone help me identify the part that is displaced following contact with the curb (one photo has an arrow pointing to this part on the undamaged driver's side of the vehicle for reference)?
(4) Does anyone have the name and/or part number for the white rectangle pieces identified in the photos (one photo with arrows specifically points these out)?
(5) Lastly, does anyone have a link to a tutorial that can help fix this issue?
Thank you to everyone in advance. I appreciate any and all help! Please help identify this part (shown here from the undamaged side). Please help identify these white rectangle pieces. Thank you! Here's the parts page. What you knocked loose can be called a rocker panel cover. Looks like it's held on with rivets (#12) and clips. You might want to remove it (until you get whatever clips/rivets needed) to prevent it falling off - a replacement is expensive! Is the rocket panel cover still attached with the 17 rivets at the bottom or are the holes for them in the plastic ripped out? You might need #24 for the (white) clips - 31253163 Whatever parts you need will be dealer only - so your best bet would be to walk into a dealer and ask.
