road noise/hard ride
I am new to this forum today. A couple of days ago, I purchased a used 2014 xc60. It had slightly over 10,000 miles. The test dirve was very smooth and comfortable. Now that I am in the real world of cracks and crevices in the road, it feels like someone is kicking my butt every time a cross a crack in the road. Could shocks be bad with only 10000 miles? Is there an inherent issue? Could the low miles/year be a problem? Also, this is my first Volvo. It is in spectacular shape otherwise. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Tom
Start with checking your tire pressure on all four wheels. The sticker in the passenger door well shows the proper pressure to keep the tires inflated. Tire pressure will make a big difference in ride and road noise.
Thanks for getting back to me. I checked the tire pressure. Mfg. label said 35psi. All tires were 34 to 36. So that should eliminate that as an issue. I did speak to a mechanic and he said he would look at it sometime soon. Meanwhile, as I drive it around, I'm beginning to think I may be splitting hairs. My 2017 Tacoma projects noise and road seams also. I may be listening too hard. I'll let you know if and when I find something out. Tom
