Default T8 hybrid charging

I have been reading it's not a good idea to "top off" every night, nor to charge to 100%. but t8 is 18 miles max in Elec mode. So what is the best solution?
thanks

I plug mine in and let the software manage the level of charge. Where did you "read" those items. I get more than 25 miles per charge in Pure mode.

Like Statman said, I also top mine off every night (or whenever I'm at the mall or somewhere I can top off free). Also where did you read that??? The manual does not mention anything about topping off early so I wouldn't worry about it. The car can re-charge while driving especially if you set it on the left panel to do so.

Just got mine about 6 weeks ago and so far loving it.

Nope..not on my2019 XC 60 T8. After a short period of time, the charger will lock in place....The doors remain unlocked....but if you want to take off the charging cable, will have to push unlock.

Hi mate yes I can get my charging point to lock and flash green which means charging, but my car doors have to be locked for this to charge. If my doors are unlocked it won't flash green and charge it stays yellow.Wonder if it's a setting issue I have to change.

No clue. I had read on Swedespeed, that doors had to be locked for it to be charged, I just know for me that's not the case...I just went in the garage and re-verified that

There is NO requirement for the vehicle to be locked for the Hybrid battery to be charged. You will however need to unlock the vehicle to remove the charging cable (even if it is unlocked).

Strange as mine will only flash green indicating it's taking a charge once I lock vehicle on button.

What year is yours? That may have something to do with it but as others have stated, mine will charge whenever it's plugged in after it does all of it's mandatory 'clicks & clacks'. I'm not positive but conjecture suggests having to unlock it again after charging (even if it's not been locked) could be to stop someone in a public area from removing the cord to charge their own??? Or maybe the charging system just has to let go of it in a particular manner.
Hope you're enjoying your T8 as much as I am mine.

Default Hybrid mode and range

I’m a first time Volvo owner and first time hybrid owner. Bought a used 2019 XC60 T8 R design. Fully charged and in hybrid mode I only ever show 16 miles as the max battery life. It plummets like a rock too and I frequently have to put it in charging mode while driving. Is this normal?

Nice Car!
We have what's called a PHEV for Plug in Hybrid. It fits well for me, I'm retired and most of my daily driving is done inside the 20 - 21 miles I get. I'm not heavy on the gas but where I live I couldn't be anyway due to slow multiple lights, schools & busses etc. On some days when I do go for several miles as the battery winds down, it goes into normal 'hybrid' mode where the computer takes over. It will always maintain enough battery that if traction from the rear wheels is needed, it will be there. On my phone app, my battery driving usually runs in excess of 70% per tank keeping my overall mileage somewhere in the 75 to 80 mpg range. On the one out of town trip I took that was over 200 miles it was in the upper 30's for the trip. So for a car as heavy and well built as these are with a total HP rating of 400 HP, I'd say it pretty great.

Mine is a 2021 and I'm getting what the books said I should be getting in 'PURE' mode, I'm not sure what your year advertised. If it's less, the dealer can check it out, they have a great warranty on the batteries. Good luck and enjoy your ride. I've noticed the 2022 models are rated with near double the 'electric' miles. Must have more capacity.

My 2019 T8, usually shows 17 when fully charged.....that # does not mean a lot. My previous job was 20.1 miles away, 99% on the highway. if I took it easy and stayed around 65 mph, I would get to work with it still showing a few miles left. But if I drove it hard (which I rarely do) that 17 can disappear pretty quickly, lol Its a fun car to drive.....go mellow..or put it into Power mode and it picks up nicely. Enjoy the new ride

Indeed the electrical range indicator seems to be all over the place and I can't figure out how it is calculated as it appears to consider way to many factors averaging over too short of a distance, rendering it wrong by 100% almost 100% of the time and therefore useless. Love the car otherwise. I am going to see if a total software update fixes it at my next dealer visit.

Default Hybrid battery degradation

I have a 2019 T8 and have loved it. I have always plugged in at home when it's home. I have let the software monitor the charge. I do however, have an issue of it only charging to 18 miles max in Hybrid mode. The Pure mode gets 20. When I first bought it, the Hybrid range was 20+. I have taken to Volvo to figure out why the degradation. It has gone as low as only 16 in Hybrid with a full charge. Volvo usually does a software update and that has only pushed it to 18. I have also asked for a degredation schedule so I can better understand how much life will I get from these batteries. There is no schedule available. Not sure what I can do different?

I also have a 2019 T8 with a max of 16 in Hybrid. When I have taken to Volvo, there have been software updates they perform that brings the battery to 18 max in Hybrid and 20 in Pure.

Default Extended xc60

The pure range for my extended range 2022 xc60 consistently is over 50miles often as high as 60 miles . I am in a warm area (Florida). Charge at home every 2 or three days.
