Default tire cupping

I have a 2010 XC60 with 60,000 and already need a THIRD set of tires, due to cupping. The first set was factory issued, the second Hancook. Has anyone else had problems with this? Two dealers have told me it's the tires, not a problem with alignment since all tires are affected.

Also, be warned--I had a problem two times when the car simply was dead, dead, dead. AAA jumped it each time and dashboard display was restored when the car was turned off and on again. Turns out it was caused by the satellite radio (which I don't use) attempting to find signals and draining the battery. A fix was installed which initially they were going to charge me $350 for (out of warranty). I was outraged since Volvo had issued a bulletin on it--why not a recall? It seems to be working now but it was a major problem and completely unpredictable for a while.

Tires? What are favorites for this car?

Factory Michelin Lattitude 18" tire on 2012 Platinum T6 AWD is wearing very well - silent, smooth and lots of tread left after 23,000 miles.

Volvo's seem to have more weight over the front tires, at least that was the case with my S60. Therefore the rear bounced more, which cupped the tires. Having them rotated more often got rid of the problem.

2011 xc60 pirelli Scorpian zero asymetrico.

My tires are cupping or feathering as well. Started around 35k kms, 46k kms now.
Dealer pointed out how the inside edges of all 4 tires are wearing so the leading edge of the shoulder tread blocks are sharpened. The rest of the those blocks are kinda hollowing out.

Loud drone at highway speeds, inside cabin, with windows closed. Can't hear with windows open.

Dealer did an alignment, showed a little out on one wheel, just a hair. The rest were ok.

Rotated tires front to rear, rebalance.

Helps a bit, but soon returns to loud.

Tire pressures are always as the should be 39 psi, per door sticker.

Rotations done per maint schedule by dealer.

Its a shame cuz the car used to be really really quiet. A real pleasure. Now the noise is annoying.

Thoughts?

We have a 2010 XC60 - experienced the cupping as well - about 30K miles. Replaced all four and now at 60k and I swear I hear it starting again. Just a subtle thumping now, but I suspect it will get loud again soon. It's had regular rotations and tire pressure monitored regularly.

I got some excellent advice from a goodyear tire exec. He suggested rotating in and x pattern as they did in the old days.

fronts move to rear, rears move diagonally to front

My tires were essentially scrape, lots of tread but lots of noise, howl. Even a little vibration.

After doing the rotations, the tires slowly got better and are now essentially healed as far as i'm concerned. Took about 8000 kms to correct. Going to employ this practice from now on.

I had the exact same problem with my Hankook tires on my 2010 xc60 AWD. It's the tires! while they're recommended for the vehicle they're really not rated for the vehicle. A fix is cross rotating them. Even then you won't get long life out of them. Maybe rotating often will help.
