Having followed @FrankAZ ’s excellent dash cam installation guide on his 2020 XC60, I’ve managed to route my rear cam cable all the way through to under the cargo floor area. However, I’m stuck and need some advice on how to proceed…
In the attached picture, can anyone suggest how the polystyrene section marked up as ‘a’ is removed? The plastic plug fittings (identified by the red arrows) seem to turn but not unscrew as such…
Once that section is out, the trim pieces marked ‘b’, ‘c’ and ‘d’ should come out/unclip fairly easily, at least enough to feed the cam cable behind.
So it turns out the fittings marked by the red arrows in my original post literally pull straight up - a trim tool helps to do this. Once the polystyrene/foam piece is out, unbolting the plastic trim along the edge of the cargo area front edge involves 4 bolts; 2 on the inside edge, and one under each of the cargo load clips (there are 2 small covers hiding the bolts).
With that piece out, the side panel trim unclips
by pulling it towards you - allowing the camera cable to be run along behind the panel.
The fiddliest task was teasing the micro usb plug up through the ribbed tubing to the tailgate, made more tricky by my camera having a right-angle fitting - patience necessary to ease it up rib by rib.
Photos attached to help describe the route I ran the cable.
