Where's the Compass???
Has anyone else noticed that the compass is missing from the rearview mirror on 22 xc60 (late), perhaps other models as well? Interestingly, it's in the user manual and the dealer assumed it was there as well, but it wasn't. Apparently, it was pulled at last minute. Chip shortage, something else? Would be fine if there were a true compass elsewhere, like in the maps app, but maps only has a "north" indicator. Does anyone know if the compass can be installed, it it's even coming back, or if it will be replaced by a software version?
"Where's the Compass???"
Good question.
A scenario I occasionally find myself in: I'm in a large, unfamiliar, parking lot and set my destination to home. The first voice direction I get is "head west towards highway xxx" but there is NOTHING in the car to tell me which way is west! When I back out of my parking space, which way do I turn?
It helps some to set the main map display to always show north at the top, but it would be best if, somewhere in the car, there was an indication of north, south, east or west. In other words, a COMPASS! The one saving grace is that once the car starts moving then things become more clear. I'm thinking of mounting a physical compass on the dash.
