XC 60 – How to close the sunroof / panoramic roof manually.
#21
Hi,
In my case electrical motor was burned and stuck, so I barely managed to manually close sunroof. But that was just firs time - most probably I broke something inside motor, so next time was easier. I had to close/open sunroof manually for couple of time - while I was investigating details what happened, and how to fix it.

I’ve experienced very recently (still an ongoing issue with the dealership) is the terrible sunroof that comes with every Volvo XC 60 sold. After a period of time, it will develop a clog of debris that builds up in the tubes that normally will expel the water down through the pillars that connect to the roof to the main frame of the car. When it gets clogged the water will back up and then leak either inside your vehicle or worse, the floorboard of the driver side, causing your entire electrical system to burn out, because of a placed main chip that allows you to actually drive your vehicle. This happened to me not only did it turn on light on the dashboard, but it also prevented me from putting the car into drive. Driveshaft handle was stuck in park. On top of that, when I went to turn the car off it refused to turn off! I had to have it towed to Volvo dealership with my suv still running. 😮
Now the ridiculous answer when asked if they had any idea what might’ve happened to the vehicle was that they had never heard such a thing. Come to find out there is a technical journal filed with nhtsa.gov details the problem with the sunroof and furthermore Volvo admits they know about it yet they won’t pay for it because the problem doesn’t affect your life or severe injuries.
Think long and hard before you consider this vehicle because if you’re a normal person like me… You will regret it.
