XC60 Battery replacement

I need to replace the battery in my 2015.5 XC60 2.0L T5. For 35 years I've always replaced car batteries myself. This one will clearly be harder to get out than any I've done in the past, but I think it's manageable. I have a few questions though:
- Is there anything I should be aware of that would sway me to instead just pay the dealer to do the work. For example, is there any computer module reset/resync to deal with that only the dealer could do with specialized tools?
- Will I want to use a "memory saver" device so the computer memory is retained when the battery is disconnected (and if yes, any recommendations).
- Any reason not to just use an AutoZone Duralast rather than paying $100+ extra for the Volvo OEM battery (and having to make a 60 mile round trip to pick it up)?

2. No, memory saver not needed, you won't lose any settings
3. Nope - and i'll go over batteries below
At my shop, Interstate brings and sells me batteries. When he arrives he puts Interstate stickers on the batteries he sells me and later on his route at the Volvo dealer he puts Volvo stickers on the same batteries. In my area Volvo uses interstate batteries.
What's the part number on your main battery? Here's Volvo to interstate conversion for common sizes that the parts catalog show as alternatives.
30772221 = MT48-H6 (size 48 - H6)
30772236 = MT92-T7 (size 92 - T7)
31266299 = H7 AGM (size 92 - T7 AGM)
I'd bet you have the 30772236. That battery is actually made in Germany, all the other batteries I stock are made in America - The exact same battery (the T7) is sold by Advanced Auto under the Die hard brand and Autozone as a Duralast gold T7. Last time I needed a T7 for my car - interstate was out of stock so I got one at Advanced auto - they had the freshest date code on the battery. If you buy a T7 make sure it has a made in Germany sticker on it. Other auto parts stores carry that same battery under different brand names. If an H6 is installed some cars will get a low battery message - H7 prevents that.
Now how about the support battery? The second smaller battery located under the cowl on the right side? I don't have after market info for that battery but specs are below - either 120 or 180 ccm - should be able to match up the part number.

I have the following:
31266299 = H7 AGM (size 92 - T7 AGM)
What is the downside of not (or never) resetting the charge rate?
I don't see the H7 in the Duralast Gold lineup. I was looking at the following Duralast Platinum:
https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...cca/319458_0_0
Also at O'reilly Auto:
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c...lvo-xc60?pos=1
Regarding the H6 and low battery warnings, the original battery started having low battery warning issues after a year or so. It was eventually swapped out under warranty after a little more than 2 years. I have no idea what part # of the original battery was.
Regarding the support battery, can you be a bit more specific on where I need to look? Right side as I face the engine from the front, or actual right side of the car? Is it visible without removing the cowl? Also, what is the role of the support battery and how would I know if it needs replacing?
Thanks!

Passenger side of car, under the cowl
Support battery is for the stop start system that some love, some hate.
If that size 94 t7 agm is the same size as what you have - looks like at match. Pricey though! And that's what interstate say fits also.

> The alternator may charge at a higher rate thinking the battery is old - and shorten the life of the battery.
Ok. So I assume the reset tells the car that the battery is new so it will charge at a lower rate, and eventually over time it will consider it old again and charge at a higher rate.

Ok. Found a video with instructions on how to replace. Mine is original (7+ years old). Should I just go ahead and replace it?

I've found 4 brands of this battery at various discount auto shops, and they all list at $229 or $239.

Battery is 5 years old. Gets low battery warning about every 2-4 week. I've been keeping it limping along by putting it on the trickle charger when that happens. Battery tester says it's about 380 CCA when it needs charging. It's at about 480 CCA after a couple days of trickle charging. Voltage when fully charged is about 12.70V (after removing surface charge). However, when I test it a few days later when it's been in use daily, it's usually 12.52 to 12.62V.

Volvo dealership finally got back to me on an estimate to replace the battery. $550 to $600. Umm, yeah. Asked about the auxiliary battery while I had them on the phone $200-$250. So looks like I'll definitely be doing this myself. Not gonna shell out $750 to $850 for something I can do myself for $350.

Looks like it's possible to do a battery age reset without any special equipment:

Just to confirm: this method for resetting Battery Management System worked well on my MY2016 XC60. Battery was replaced by the guy from battery shop (quite easy job on european model, just need right tool), then I did reset by myself. After reset, I check battery status with Car Scanner application - all right as expected.

I got access to the auxiliary battery. Label says it's 170A, but it's only putting out 80A so probably should be replaced. The part # is 31358957. I'm not having much luck with google searching this part. Autozone came up with the following battery that it says will fit my XC60. It appears to be the same size, but is 180A instead of 170A:
https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...x12/478444_0_0
The side of the battery says BTX12. I'm not sure what this indicates, but when I looked it up on Oreilly's, it came up with a similar 180A battery:

Interesting battery discussion, with lots of good data. Personally, I used to replace my batteries after four years regardless of meter readings. I live in the Great Lakes snow belt, and don't want to be stranded. With AGM batteries I've raised that to five years. To me, it's a small price to pay for the added security.

Actually I'm assuming it's 7.9 years old. The main battery was replaced under warranty 5 years ago. Possibly the Auxiliary battery was at the same time. I'm not sure if it was. If it wasn't then it is about 7.9 years old.
Update: Just dug up the old invoice. It says it replaced with part # 31296299, which is the main battery. I don't see any reference to the part # for the auxiliary battery.

Finally got through to the Volvo dealer parts department. They used my car's VIN to find the right parts:
Auxiliary battery: The part number they gave me (30659531) is for a 180A battery, not the 170A that I currently have (31358957) and can't find anywhere. So I assume then that the 180A batteries I mentioned above from Autozone and Oreilly's should be ok. They appear to be the right size and specs.
Main Battery: The part number they gave me (30772236) is for a 700A battery, not 800A like I currently have (31296299). I suspect the 700A is what my car originally had until it was replaced under warranty. I had them look up the 800A part (31296299) and they confirmed it will also work with my XC60, so it seems this is what I should go with.

The 30772236 is the T7 battery made in germany sold by a bunch of people. The 31296299 is the AGM version. Either one should be ok - although interstate only suggests the agm version for a 2015.5 with stop/start. Perhaps the agm version was not available when the cars were built - or Volvo did not realize how many batteries they would put in under warranty!
