Hello All. New here. Looking at a 04 XC70 150K. The dealer is reporting code ECM 982A. I am told the fix is a new ECM. The car runs without any issues. I am thinking that if I had severe ECM problems I would expect engine mgmt. issues like a rough idle, etc... What do you think?

 

I'd call the XeMODex people to see if this fault code maps to something they can repair. The problems can be varied, like it can run fine then suddenly die or one or more of the sensor inputs can report a fail when they are actually working correctly. Quite often the problems can be intermittant due to cracks in solder joints in the computer board
