2004 XC-70 Front Brake Repair....Cost???
Hi,
I'm about to have my front brakes replaced, rotors included, and I've encountered various estimates. One shop, which does not specialize in Volvo's quoted me $230, plus labor, no tax. The specialized Volvo shop, quoted me $441, plus labor and tax. Are these estimates fair?
I only want "good" hands working on it. I have done my research, and believe the specialized Volvo shop will do a great job. I stopped there and Volvo's were everywhere, old to new. I am in a new location, so finding new hands for it, are a priority and am taking extra precautions.
Thank you for your help!

My experience is that any competent tire or brake place can easily replace rotors and pads on your Volvo (you probably can too). I for one wouldn't see the need to pay more that $250 per axle for pads and rotors only.
I would have them use Volvo parts. Just had the fronts done on my XC90 using Volvo parts at my local tire place for approx $250. They have the ability to buy at wholesale from the local dealer so it works out well.
Last time a shop did it for me it was $450 for all four wheels, pads and rotors. I just did the front (Brembo rotors/akebono pads/ate hoses) for $200. It should not be more than $2-300 (with good quality parts).
