2005 XC 70 cooling issue
Hi Volvo Fam
Ive been working on my car and troubleshooting a cooling problem. It started with a a coolant spillage. Only sometimes and very little. I couldn’t pinpoint it. The fan was on constantly. My neighbor noticed and asked me. The car would run hot and coolant would rise and sometimes if I drove the extra minute or block it would shoot out the weep hole. I finally check it and lifted the reservoir to check it. The bottom of the reservoir was cracked where the hose goes. So I replaced the reservoir and was so happy it wasn’t sometime else. Well the problem continued. I replaced the thermostat house with the sensor. And I thought that would the fan kick on. It did not. I bought a new radiator fan motor, still didn’t turn on. Today I replaced the radiator electric cooling fan relay and the fan still didn’t kick on. Does anyone have any Idea what it could be. Has anyone experienced this problem?
As soon as I can find someone to replace the water pump, I will. And could it be the throttle body. I also plan on doing a combustion test. I’m just waiting to gain confidence to do it. I’ve never done it before..I’ll take any advice. I’m desperate to get this fixed. I can’t find the problem. TIA
