Default 2012 XC70 engine growl

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone else has had a similar engine noise, that I have been trying to identify.
In neutral, around 1350 RPM, a growl/rattle similar to an exhaust rattle is apparent.

No obvious exhaust issues, muffler, catalytic converter or body rub issues as investigated by workshops.
When driving it is usually noticeable at low rpm, and at acceleration, is constant until 50+ KPH.
It sometimes disappears for a few weeks, but always returns. Puzzling just the same.

I use the car each day, lost of kilometers as a Sales Rep.
My colleagues XC70 same model and year also had the same affliction around the 170,000KM mark.
Constructive comments welcomed.
Thanks,
Rob

What engine do you have? (A common noise maker with the b6304t and b6324s is the front engine mount and "dogbone" above it. )

I had this problem and it was almost a year before I found out what it was.
Definitely check the engine mounts. The one on the passenger side is easy to see under the "dogbone" torque strut mount. The rubber on my torque strut mount was separated and the mount below was collapsed.

This video has a side by side of a new versus collapsed engine mount.
