Hi Friends, I've seen other trunk issues in threads like this one, https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...closed-103254/ and this one https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...ont-open-34111 but our trunk latch is having an intermittent issue that I'm trying to get to the bottom of. Sometimes when you close it, it will release just fine with the trunk button or key fob, other times it just won't release and I need to manually use a small allen to actuate the latch release.

It's not the valet feature and I'm 99% sure it's mechanical but I'm having trouble diagnosing it. Here are two videos I made of the latch actuating.
I would really like the answer to be, "Yes here's the fix you don't need a new latch assembly."

Any advice?

 

Well unfortunately the only answer seemed to be to replace the whole lock mechanism. So $350 later...
