Default AC turns off intermittently

I have a 02 XC70 that is having a AC problem. On warm days 85 and above the AC will stop running for about 5 -10 minutes, and then it will start working properly. Some days this happens 2-3 times, other days it never happens at all. I replaced the evaporator temperature sensor yesterday, and the problem has not duplicated yet. The sensor ohmed out at 2.5, so I assume that it is bad. But the weather has been below 85. My next guess is the compressor clutches are weak. Any body else seen this issue

The problem returned today. So the sensor was not the fix. I have already purchased a new compressor from Volvo and plan to replace it this weekend. Would you recommend I charge the system with R-134 from Auto Zone or should I take it to have it professionally vacuumed and charged. Does any one have any directions on replacing the compressor correctly. Thanks for your help. Troy

I would have someone vacuum the system and charge it.

To me the easiest way to replace it is to remove the cooling fan then slide it out that way. Where the fan was.
