A/C System
I have a 2000 V70 XC. 2.5T Does anyone know the A/C system? I am looking for the Cabin Filter. Haven't a clue where it is. Bigger problem, though, is that the A/C works only intermittently. Several times recently it sent white vapor through the vents. Would love to know the parts and locations of the system so that I can fix it myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Brian

Let's start with the cabin filter - In the engine compartment, passenger side, not far from the bottom of the windscreen. 2 or 4 torx screws hold down the black plastic cover.
Intermittent AC could be nothing more than a low charge of freon. That is always the starting place if the compressor is working.
White vapour through the vents could be water not draining away quickly enough from the drain on the bottom of the evaporator housing. During periods of high fan speed, high ambient temperatures or very high humidity condensation in the evaporator housing can be slow to drain away.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the help.
After bouncing around the web a bit, I am wondering if the low pressure (a/c pressure) switch could be the culprit. The blower gradually becomes weaker and if I try to put it at its highest setting it makes a loud noise. At the same time, the a/c becomes far less cool. But, if I let the car sit (off) a while it seems as though the system "resets". In looking around, it seems as though a bad pressure switch could be causing the evaporater to malfunction resulting in freeze up. I blasted the a/c all the way home from work today, but it wasn't long enough a drive to cause the problem. Still, when I got home I quickly opened the hood and felt the high side of the tube to the evaporator and it was quite cold (although for all I know it may be that it's supposed to be that way).
Do you, or anyone else out there know where I can find the pressure switch?
Thanks much,
Brian
