Default engine system service required 02 XC70

Hi all,

I have a 2002 XC70, and a message of "engine system service required" was appear on the "The service reminder indicator" (SRI) yesterday. I tried to reset the SRI, and when this process was completed, I turned my ignition key to start position, a code 042 and 062 appear on the SRI screen for couple second then the message "engine system service required" turned on again.

I will bring this car to the local dealer, but would like to understand the what would be the problem, and if it is a easy fix. I would like to do it myself since the dealer is fully booked at this time of season.

Thank you in advance for all helps.

Reader,

You need to get the codes pulled it could be over 100 different things that can make the light come on.

Thank you Tech for your fast reply. I solve the problem by disconnected the battery for 5min. The problem is now gone, I guess it reset the sensor some how. If it appear again in the future, I will have the code pull at the garage.

Thanks,
