i have a 1998 and when the engine is warm and im sitting at a light some times i get this little flutter in the idle? anyone had this issue and what it was? idle jumps from like 900 down to 600 and the car shakes from the rough idle. it hasnt caused any trouble codes and the check engine light has never come on. any thought?????

When was the last Major tune up?? Plugs,wires,cap,rotor

Have you cleaned the throttle body?

 

i just bought this car two months ago and dont know when the last full tune was. the engine compartment is completely spotless, but should i look into the throttle body and see if theres some gummy residue?

Yes I would check the throttle body. Also you can look at the spark plug wires and see how old they are. They have a date stampped on the wires if they are Volvo wires.
