just recently bought a 1998 70xc wagon and it's front passenger tire can be pulled and wiggled and when I hit pot holes it clunks but the alignment seems good.

 

You may have several worn suspension parts. If you look close when it wiggles do you see any movement at the control arm joints? If so, it needs to be replaced.

Also, open the hood and try to wiggle the top of the strut assembly at the very middle. If it moves or turns you might need to replace the strut top spring mount. Not a super deal but some times the nut on top can be a challenge. You will need a spring compressor of course. I also hear that the mount for the 90 series is much beffier and therefore it lasts long.
