Default Radio code

All,

I went to the dealership today to get the radio security codes for my wifes 01 XC-70 and my son's 95 850 Turbo. Both cars were purchased used and did not come with the codes.

Long story short, I got the code for the 850, but the service tech said that no code was needed for the XC-70. I asked if he was sure and he said yes, and that "the computer history sheet on file for the car showed no radio code was ever entered and also sayait is not required".

Later I checked with another tech and he told me the same thing.

Seems strange to me. Shouldn't the radio require a code. It is an HU-613 radio.

Thanks,

Glenn

Default RE: Radio code

The V70,S60 2001 and newer do not require codes.
The S80 1999 and newer don't require radio code.
The 850,S70,V70 up to 2000,S40 to 2004 all require codes.
The 240,740,940,960's require codes. Later model 240's and 740's that is.

Damn Tech.....you definitely know your stuff. Thanks. That is why I asked the question here on the forum. Guess I should have trusted the dealership guy, but based on past dealership experience, well.....you know.

Thanks again,

Glenn

Default RE: Radio code

I just bought a 2000 V70XC. When I looked at it before purchasing the radio was inactive so the salesman investigated, got the code from the previous owner and left the number in the vehicle (very helpful!)Later, I had it serviced shortly after I purchased it at the shop where I bought it, and when I got it back, the radio was inactive again. I tried putting in the code on the radio preset keys but it does not work. Can anyone tell me what sequence I need to enter the code? (Help, I don't have a manual!)
