Hi,

I am the original owner of a 2001 XC and I can't even list all the problems i had with it in the past. It cost me over $5000 and i have just 60.000 miles on it.
few days ago my batery was dead and I jump start the car but after that my sunroof, interior lights , climate control unit and the little light by the gear shifter was out. I called my mechanic and was able to "key reset" the sunroof and lights but not the climate unit and gear shifter light.
The Volvo dealer recomends new CCM unit for $1300 (parts and labor) and ..."we take it from there". I hope there is a "over load protection" some where...........please let me know if you have any suggestion.

Did they pull codes and tell you what they are?

I got the computer print out which is 5 pages long but says :

CEM-1A56 Communication with DIM control modul Signal missing

and also

No diagnosic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored for DIM, PDM, PSM, SWM.

I assume the code won't clear?
Did they try resetting the car?

 

I do not know if they try to reset the car. they did the "key reset" and that did not work.

They can do an entire car reset with the computer system they have.
Also ask them to disconnect the battery and put the cable ends together for 5 minutes and reconnect the battery and see if that does anything.

 

This morning i call back to Volvo and were not helpfull at all.
I will disconect the batery over the weekend and go to them on Monday. What is is exactly I need them to do? The complete reset of the car and reload? Does this operation has a name in there book? They just want me to get the new CCM for $900.

here are all the codes from my last visit: CEM 6A02 door unluck, CEM 1A55 comunication with CCM missing , CEM 1A5CUEM signal missing CEM 3F03 shiflock signal missing

Disconnect the Battery and put the Positive and negative cables together. It discharges all the computers.
Leave it like that for about 5-15 minutes which ever you prefer.
Then reconnect and see if it works.

The entire reset of the car can only be done by the Dealer.

i did exactly what you suggested and after that i went to Volvo dealer and they reloaded the program in to the CCM and it worked!! Thank you so much for the excellent advice.
