Default Seafoam or other cleaner into TB or intake

All,

Is there a way (via a vacuum line) that you can get Seafoam or any similar type ofcleaning solvent directly into the throttle body and intake of an 01 XC70 while the vehicle is running? I have been able to do this on my son's 95 850 Turbo by hooking one end of avacuum line to the vacuum treeand submerging the other end in a bottle of Seafoam. I would then start the car and it would suck the cleaner out of the bottle and directly into the throttle body and intake tract.

The method worked very well. Much better than adding the solution directly to the fuel tank. After looking, I have not been able to find the vacuum tree or similar handy vacuum port to do this on our XC70.

If anyone has done this, or even has a write up or pictures, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Glenn

There should be oneon the intake but you will have to have someone rev the car for you.

I saw one that attaches to the top of the intake runners. I think I will give that one a shot. I figured that one would work, but wanted to make sure.

01 XC70????? THROTTLE BODY CLEANER??? I've seen multiple times in which cleaner goes in before throttle and seep into the throttle motor and ruin the electronic throttle unit!!! IF YOUR CAR OUT OF THE EXTENDED THROTTLE WARRANTY or not Eligible for ETM replacement = BIG MONEY!!!! not to mention if u look at volvo owners manual it doesn't recommend any fuel injector or intake cleaner... The lazy ways make u pay more in the long one.. take throttle out and wipe it clean withcleaning solution sprayed on cloth (not directly soaking it)it is the best bet!

The owners manual might say not to use it but then why does ALMOST EVERY DEALER TRY TO GET YOU TO BUY IT FROM THEM?
That is a fuel injection service.

The way he would have hooked it up would have been after the throttle body anyways.
It is to clean the Valves not the throttle body.

they do not hook it up to throttle body they hook it on the fuel rail and pressurize the cleaner same as fuel rail pressure and let the car runs until it stalls out. Inject through before throttle like 99-01 ETM = will kill ETM if cleaner gets into throttle. Xc70 seems to be ok but S80 T-6 or Xc90 T-6 will also kill o2 sensor too...

But you not listening to what we are saying everything we are talking about is adding it after the throttle body.
No one ever said to put it in before the throttle body.

sorry for misreading... but 1 thing I've notice that since throttle placed under intake manifoldoil films seems to collect there... my issue is if it were to collect at the throttle. also if u take the tube out from intercooler to throttle have u seen puddles of oil collect inside tube? if u can inject it as close to the injector as possible I would think it's ok wouldn't it since injector flush is directly inject to each individual cylinder right in front of the valve? I've no intention to prove anyone is right or wrong I just wanna know and learn what more of other thinks. if I made u "tech" angry for any reason I apologize.

No you didn't make me mad I was just trying to point out what I was saying and made sure everyone understands.
We have been doing the Valve cleaner in these cars since 1999 and never had any problems.

What Volvo needs to do is install the same coating the Fords have that keeps the throttle plate clean and we wouldn't have half the problems we do with these cars.

Well, it is STILL raining here, so as promised, I will try this as soon as I can. In the meantime I had the Mrs dump a couple bottles of Techron cleaner into the fuel tank.

Yes, she did notice a difference. I have yet to drive it, but if she noticed a difference, I'm sure I will too. I was able to score 12 bottles for $25 at Costco so I even put some in my son's 850.

Yeah, the stuff was flying off the shelf. I ran into a guy who had 4 cases in his cart, and when I asked him about it he told me the deal on it and I went over and bought some. Wish I would have bought more. BTW, we just got back from a 600 mile round trip in the car and it performed great! Overall mileage was 28 MPG, and that was at speeds around 75, including one 100 MPH blast up a 6% grade for 3 miles... I think it surprised a lot of people (including the rice racer crowd) to get blown away by a Volvo wagon while going uphill!!
