Unhappy She's a gusher!

Hello, 99 V70XC w/165k. Oil leaking various places, replaced flame trap system and oil cap gasket. Oil only comes out from under the oil cap after repair. About 1-2 oz per day. Any ideas? Thanks

Does the oil cap fit snugly?

Does the cap when loosened jump up and down while the engine is running? If so you still have a build up of internal pressure. And if the cap is well fitted, it will still leak. There is a hose from the top of the head to the flame trap, is it open and not clogged? My guess from experience is that it's not venting to the turbo. The hose from the trap to the turbo, how is it? Where the hose mounts to the "snout" that fits to the turbo? carbon can build up all along this route.

Thanks for your response. I like the jumping cap method. Purchased a flame trap kit from IPD and believe that hose is included. I will double check this weekend. I am leaning towards an internal build up. Upon removing the flametrap, the block was plugged at the trap.Any ideas of cleaning outside of hot tanking the engine after dismantle?

I second that pierce! Read your post a little too late and my aftermarket gaskets are leaking under static pressure... Oh well live and learn!

Some people suggest Seafoam oil treatments to loosen crud before doing the flame trap, then you need to get in there with some tools to mechanically clean out the ports to the block as best you can. Don't do the Seafoam after doing the trap as you may loosen some sludge and push into the new trap.
