Hey all,

I'm considering buying a Curt Hitch 12318, and renting a UHaul 4x8 trailer to move cross country (California to Minnesota).

Any considerations I should take into place? Transmission oil cooler? Any better options?

Anyone have any better ideas than installing the hitch and renting a trailer? My wife and I don't have a lot of belongings, but we have a little more than what can fit in our XC70 (probably 8-10 more wine sized boxes from the liquor store).

A trailer is no big deal and you can always use the hitch for a bike rack when you get to Minnesota. I've pulled boats and trailers with all of my Volvos with absolutely no problems.

 

I've found U-Haul's receivers to be priced better than any others I've found. Made by Draw Tite and they fit well. They also sell coolers.

I just bought a Curt Hitch on Sunday, and it was delivered yesterday! I'm putting it on this weekend.

Have you used one of their coolers? I am trying to get a handle on whether or not it would be prudent to invest in one, or if it would be overkill.
