Question Transmission dipstick/filler location?

My 2001 XC70 transmission seems to be slipping in the past week. My hope is that it just needs the fluid topped off. However I can't seem to find the dipstick/filler tube. Does anyone know? Please be simple and basic in your explanation as I am definately not a mechanic. Thanks!

It is hard to find. You have to move some wiring and the lower radiator hose on the front of the tranny to find it.

No dice with me. I have removed the large breather tube yet still cannot see a dipstick. My trans was replaced with "rebuilt" at 88K (warranty was 80K miles :-( )miles in 2005 and guess what: no service since then. I now have 213,500 miles and bad shifts, slipping, etc. I found a plastic thing -- might have been yellow at one time now faded -- that looks as though it could have been a dipstick handle at one time but now broken off -- in the region of the engine in question. I can barely get fingers on that but it does not seem to budge. Should it twist or unscrew to remove and read it?

Sorry, I thought my model, etc. were automatically appended. It is a '01 C70 Conv. I think the bigger engine. Purchased new in Nov. 2000. Thanks.

The 2.3 is actually the more powerful motor.

The dip stick should be there and to my knowledge PULLS right out. Have you checked the owners manual?

It can have a red or yellow plastic loop at the end. On a turbo it's partly hidden by the tube.

This one is yellow.

not all newer Volvo transmissions have a dipstick - some rely on a fill port and an overflow device to set the level. are you just looking to check the level/color of the fluid or did you get a CEL fault code?
