V70 AWD / XC70 - What is the difference?
Hi - I'm a new list member. We're looking at a 2003 or 2004 XC70. We've also found several V70 AWD's for sale as well. As far as I can tell, the only differences seem to be the plastic body moulding and some increased ground clearance on the XC70. Are there any other differences between these two cars? I'm specifically interested in the suspension - does the XC have a heavier suspension system, or is it the same just shimmed up somewhat?
Thanks! I appreciate any help on this.

From my knowledge, the V70 XC name ended in year 2002 or 2003. Then after Volvo changed from V70 XC AWD to XC70 AWD. I think due to the XC series because of XC90. And as for the XC70 it has a 2.5L Turbocharged engine compare to the 2.4L Turbo on the V70XC. The XC70 have more torque and horsepower and currently 2005 models, the XC70 have a new facelift. Also about the V70, it has the same engine and transmission as for the V70 AWD. Just higher ground clearance, plastic modings, XC wheels, skid plates, more curb weight. Other differences not sure of. But you can go to volvoxc.com to learn more about the XC.
