s70 To v70 Sound Difference
I have just sold my 1999 v70 Base Model and purchased a low milage 1998 s70. The sound difference is awful.
The sound coming from my v70 was very nice quality,With some bass to it and all, But now with the my "new" s70 the sound is awful,There is absolutly no bass at all and LOTS of treble. Is there an EQ/Amp built in somewhere that might be unplugged?

Have you messed with the FADER, BASS and TREBLE sliders on the actual headunit? If not place all of them in the middle.
I have an s70 and I love the sound that comes from mine. Plenty of bass. Not as much as when I had a subwoofer in my 850 but nice amount of bass.

No,I have them adjusted identical to the way I had them in the v70 and the sound is ALOT worse. I pulled the radio out a moment ago and noticed there is a spot for a hookup to "Amp" but no cord attached to it,Unsure if the v70 had anything in that slot.
Yes,I pulled the radio out and fished around for a connector but was unable to find one of any sort, Any idea of the side it comes from so I could possibly locate it? Or possibly where the amp it's self is so I can follow the lead and connect it.
Well...to save yourself the time, make sure you even have the sub the amp is supposed to power in the first place. If it's not there then you probably don't have the amp either.
I was under the impression that there was an amp to all volvo sound systems to power the standard speakers,Not looking for anything to power a subwoofer at this time. Just looking for a temporary fix till I can install a proper sound system.
Technically, the radio itself is the amp but as I recall...only the Premium Volvo sound systems have the additional external amps. In terms of a temporary solution to your problem....there isn't one. Either you're supposed to have that amp or not. If you are (and it isn't there), then it needs to be replaced with either a factory or after market amp. I've been trying to search on-line for information regarding where that amp might be located but I can't find a thing....sorry.
I have a 2000 S70 and for whatever its worth, the sound its around normal/acceptable/average.
If your using an ipod with an external volume adjuster, make sure you turn your adjusting them accordingly. I can't tell you how many times I've sworn off my speakers quality and then realized it was just me not paying attention to the several volume adjusters (ipod, power jack, head unit).
Best of luck
