Very "soft" brake pedal after new pads install
Hi there, new to this site.
I just finished replacing pads on all wheels on a 2001 v70 xc auto for a neighbor & now the pedal is very soft & has far more travel than it did previously. I tried to find as much info as possible prior to doing the work, as I have not worked on a volvo before & seemed pretty straight forward, but I must have missed something. I pushed caliper piston in slowly to make room for new pads, installed new pads, put everything back together- normal brake job- but now brake pedal is like stepping on a ripe plum. Brakes seem to work ok, but something is just not right. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks, Stormy76

hi, new 2 this site also but anyway... HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM CHANGED REAR PADS TODAY AND BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY SOFT,FEELS LIKE IT MAY BE AIR IN THE LINE OR SOMETHING... ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENED???? OR WHAT 2 DO ABOUT THIS????THANKS, VOLVO DRIVER 1
sorry about slow response, had to do brakes on my kid's Cherokee- what breeze & everything works. Anyway, the neighbor is using her car & will get it back to me when she can,& I'll bleed system, & see if that helps. I can't believe we're the only ones to have this issue. I've been working on cars for over 40 years & have not had this happen before. There must be a secret the Pro's ain't telling us newbee's
Thanks, Stormy
