Default VVT Issue

Hi,

I was getting code P1332 repeatedly and replaced the VVT solenoid (on top of the engine under cam cover, 4 screws, easy to get to) with a kit from the dealership. This included a new gasket and wiring connectors.

It seemed to work but after 80 miles CEL came back on. I am now getting codes P1655 and P0014. Would this indicate that I did something wrong with the wiring? Or should I be looking for something else as a solution?

Thanks,
Alex

PS this issue is on an 01 V70XC with 147000 miles. I have been running synthetic oil changed every 3k for about a year and had the breather assembly (PCV) replaced.

Ricky - thanks for the comment. There must be other people as well with this or similar problems.

Here is the final (hopefully) update. It has been almost 1000 miles with no check engine light so I believe this has resolved the issue. Since earlier parts of the thread were guesses, let me put clearly here what worked for me.

Code P1332 occurred when my VVT solenoid was malfunctioning.
Code P1665 occured when I had an electrical problem with the electrical connections
of the new VVT solenoid.

In fact, if I disconnect the wires from my VVT solenoid completely P1655 is what I get. The new solenoid from the dealership did not have a good connection. I read on another post that somone else had a problem so I connected the power directly to the pins and filled the housing with silicon gasket maker. If I could do it again, I'd try to just tighten the pin connectors a little bit before assembling the plastic clip and do the silicon kludge as a last resort.

Alex
