Default What Timing belt kits I should choose?

I got 01 v70 xc,Turbo 2.5. Does anybody have experience to replace the timing belt? What is the correct part numbers for the belt, tensioner and idle pulley? How can I find those part numbers for my car.

I just found a timing belt kits from Ebay, including timing belt (274338), mechenical tensioner (30638277) and idle pulley (9146376). Are those correct for my car? How can know my car is with mechenical or other type of tensioner?

Many thanks,

Plopband

The best place to check part numbersI ahve found is either at the dealer, or at some of the better on-line parts dealers. I tend to stay away from E-bay unless the person selling the parts is actually a Volvo parts vendor using e-bay as a way to increase sales.

Anyway, first off. if you car is a 2001 (as mine is) you should have the mechanical tensioner. I replaced my own timing belt and it is not that difficult.

Secondly, check these vendors: fcpgroton.com, egerman.com ipdusa.com, and autohausaz.com for part numbers and prices.

Good luck

Thanks Psaboic. Do I have to have the special tool (counterhold 9995433)? What did you use to dismount the idler pulley?

You don't need any special tools to do it.
Are you talkling about the serpentine belt idler?

I mean the timing belt idler. This will be my first attempt to change the timing belt. But I never look at the timing belt assembly. Some XC timing belt replacing instructions mention about the counterhold tool needed to get the timing belt idler off. I do not know if I can finish the work without this tool.

I didn't need to use a counterhold.
